In this project I reflexively sought a visceral language for my own experiences of a maternal body through experimentation between etching and printmaking techniques, as well as with drawing and mixed media. Shifting the maternal subject out of fixed representation and into a complexity of flesh and mind that is in a state of process and becoming allows for continual development and further renewals of meaning. By applying this approach to the process of printmaking, I expanded my practice to produce a body of work that has utilised the reproductive nature of print while remaining experimental and in a state of becoming.
